Research and Developmental Activity :

Design and development of Nagardola Tray Drier

  • A tray drier has been developed where each of the trays will receive uniform heat.
  • This is achieved by a vertical rotational motion to the trays stacked on a circular frame.
  • Uniform drying can be achieved by this process.

Design of a Solar Drier

  • A Solar drier has been developed to serve as a cost effective drier.
  • It is design for handling different food materials.

Design of a Fluidized Bed for cleaning of Wheat

  • A fluidized bed was developed to separate particles based on their mass.
  • Specially designed and applied for separation of various impurities in wheat like soil particles, dirt etc.

 Alcohol production based on agricultural industry waste to   provide value-addition

  • R & D projects on alcohol production based on agricultural industry waste to provide value-addition.
  • Production time reduced and yield of alcohol increased in the operation.

On Going R&D Projects on Alcohol:

  • Fruit based Alcoholic beverages: mainly Fruit Beers

Development of pediatric Foods

  • Initial raw materials selected on the basis of common requirement of pediatric foods
  • Different formulations were tried out using cereal and legume powder in different combinations.
  • Formulations re evaluated on the basis of preliminary organolaptic testing.
  • Nutritional analysis was also carried out.

 Development of fruit/herb-based Rasogolla:

  • CORE has initiated product development on fruit/herb based rasogolla, a truly ethnic Bengali sweet.
  • Various trials have already been evaluated with potential fruit/herb extract and /or flavours.

Health Food Programme initiated by the CORE:

The CORE has taken the initiation to develop a thirst area in the field of Bakery and Beverages in this regard. Already different functional foods are formulated in this area. The sensory as well as the nutritional evaluation has been made to establish the well being and healthiness 
     

Bakery

  1. Herbal Cookies
  2. Protein enriched bread and cookies : application of  a nonconventional flour in making bakery products
  3. Bread with the incorporation of resistant starch  : functional Food
  4. Iron enriched bread

Beverage

1. Beverage with combination of citrus fruits
2. Herbal beverage
3. Soya based beverage
4. Iron enriched milk based beverage
5. Iron fortified whey drink
6. Health drink developed with fruit and vegetable extract

 

The CORE has already developed some Health Foods. Some of them are dairy products.

 1. Development of Iron enriched Cow milk based Synbiotic Yoghurt
 2. Production of Soya milk based Yoghurt.
 3. Formulation design of Antidiabetic Food
 

 Projects on Quality Control Analysis for industrial samples

  • Direct analytical projects had been taken up for analysis of industrial samples as a part of their quality control and R&D work utilizing TIFAC laboratory facilities.
  • CORE is in tie up with: Mayurank Foods, Kolkata

A.A.Nutrition, Guahati, Assam for analyzing spice, flour, MSG, flavour enhancer utilizing the high end instruments provided by the CORE.
